brrr it's cold

If you are lucky enough to live on the East Coast then you have been experiencing extreme winter chill this week.  Since I've lived in Maine, I can remember there always being one or two weeks in the winter that are like this, where temperatures barely reach the teens and the wind chill is usually well-below zero. Weeks like this make you want to curl up under a blanket, preferably near a fire.  Another way to keep warm is to enjoy the tasty beverage below.  Russian vodka and the warming effects of ginger? Sounds good to me!

Traditional Moscow Mule

Ingredients

Vodka (I prefer Tito's or Double Cross)
Ginger Beer (Maine Root is the best)
Lime Juice
Rosemary for garnish
Ice
* optional Fresh Ginger

To Mix:

In a cocktail shaker, mix 2 parts vodka with 3 parts ginger beer.  Add a dash of lime juice (maybe two dashes if you like lime) and mix vigorously.  Once liquid ingredients are combined, pour over ice and garnish with rosemary.  Now sip and enjoy!  (hint: if you like ginger and need the heat shave a few pieces from fresh ginger and place in your glass before adding the ice.
